When you arrive with your child in the morning, you will find equipment outside in the playground. A large black trolly for bag storage, a lunchbox trolly, a table with a tray for drink bottles and a large box for file bags.

We encourage you to show your children where to put their belongings and ensure that everything is clearly labelled so that we can identify each child’s items.

At 8:45 a.m. The children will be welcomed into the building, and registered as attending. They will enter the Hedgehogs room. Toddlers are supported to identify their name card which will have a picture of an object on it to help them remember which name card is theirs, this supports them to recognise the letters of their name as early as possible. The toddlers are free to choose from a variety of toys and resources that are carefully selected and planned around each child’s individual interests to support their learning, development and next steps. At 10:10 a.m . the children are taken to wash their hands by a member of staff and then offered a selection of fruit for snack. If your child is potty training, staff will support your child to use the potty or toilet, and nappies are checked regularly and changed as needed. At 11:25 a.m. Toddlers will be taken to use the toilet and wash their hands; they will join the squirrel’s room and be supported to find their lunchbox at the lunch table. The Children enjoy socialising and sitting all together at lunch time. 11:30 a.m. concludes the morning session and those children who are due to go home will be brought to their parents at the front door with their belongings and children who are arriving to attend the lunch club session are welcomed into the building, they will wash their hands and join their friends at the lunch table. Once children have finished eating, they are free to go and play in the play area of the room. 12:30 p.m. is the end of lunch club and children are again, brought to the door with their belongings and will wait for their parents to arrive to collect them. The Toddlers are taken back into their hedgehog room and those who attend the afternoon session are welcomed into the building and will follow the morning session process. At 2:40 p.m. the toddlers are supported to gather their belongings and taken to join the squirrels in readiness for home time. Our day is concluded at 2 :45 p.m. for collection, to allow a 15-minute window as we recognise that some parents have children to collect from other schools.

Our setting closes at 3:00 p.m.

Our door will open at 8:45 a.m. and children will be welcomed into the building, registered as attending and enter the Squirrels room, then encouraged to identify their name card and place it on the “Welcome/emotions” board. This will help us understand how your child may be feeling when they come into Pre-school (“Happy”, is usually the feeling!) however, we understand that not all children have the same feelings and emotions, much like us adults, so children are taught how to understand their feelings from a choice of colour monsters. Each colour represents an emotion/feeling. Children are then supported to choose a free choice of activities set up for them. A range of child led, and adult led activities are readily available and are planned carefully around each child’s individual interests to support their learning, development and next steps. At 10:00 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. a bell is rung and a visual is shown to signal to the children that it is snack time. Children will independently wash their hands at the portable sink, identify their name from a board and place it in a container so that staff are aware of which children have chosen to have snack. The children can select a whole piece of fruit and are offered milk or water. They are encouraged to pour their own drinks and wash their cups after they have finished. At 11:25 a.m. staff will support the children to use the toilet and wash their hands and they are encouraged to find their lunchbox at the lunch table. Children enjoy socialising and sitting together at lunch time. 11:30 a.m. concludes the morning session and those children who are due to go home will be brought to their parents at the front door with their belongings and children who are arriving to attend the lunch club session are welcomed into the building, they will wash their hands and join their friends at the lunch table.
